PhD thesis on the social structure of cultivated plants

Many colleagues and friends attended Vanesse Labeyrie’s successful PhD defense on December 19, 2013. Vanesse presented the results of her 3-year research on “The social structure of cultivated plants: the influence of exchanges, representations and practices on sorghum diversity in Mount Kenya’s people”. Vanesse’s work was part of the ARCAD project Cereals in Africa. It was supported by Agropolis Fondation through an ARCAD PhD grant.The PhD defense committee acknowledged the high quality of the work and Vanesse’s ability to combine approaches in genetics and anthropology. Dr Christian Leclerc, her main advisor, underlined that Vanesse developed fruitful interactions with Mount Kenya’s farming communities during her 6-month fieldwork.  More.
