An international workshop on fonio (Digitaria exilis) entitled 'De la connaissance à la valorisation du fonio' ('From knowledge to valorisation of fonio') will be held in Niamey, Niger, on December 9-11, 2010. It is co-organised by CIRAD, ARCAD, IRD, the University Abdou Moumouni of Niamey, and IRAG (Guinea) in the frame of the Arcad's project ' Cereals in Africa ', WP4 'Underutilized species'. The workshop will be hosted by IRD - Niamey and is founded by ARCAD (Agropolis Fondation) and CIRAD. Twenty-five participants from West Africa and Europe will represent different scientific expertises (social sciences, agronomy, genetics...) as well as different steps of the research and production chain of fonio. The working language of the meeting will be French. Presentations and main conclusions will be available on the Arcad website soon after the meeting.
